Cold weather be damned, Red Rocks is throwing a winter concert. Friday night, Common and Atmosphere will run the stage of one of the country’s most beautiful amphitheaters, possibly with some light snow coming down. An outdoor show in the middle of a Colorado winter seems kind of crazy, but the powers that be found a few good reasons to do this thing. One of the largest forces behind the project is Icelantic Events Manager Sam Warren, who came up with the idea years ago, sitting at a bar during SIA Snow Show in Las Vegas. He’d heard the show might move to Denver, and told his friend he would start a concert at Red Rocks if it did. Ballabajoomba Poetry Open Mic & Slam returns to House of Rock on Jan. 26th with special guest, six-time National Poetry Slam team member, Christian Drake.

Drake has performed in over sixty cities across the U.S. and Canada, including three National Poetry Slam Finals stages. His poetry combines finely-crafted words with wild, rock-and-roll-inspired performance. His repertoire includes poetry about heartbreak, music formats, war, nature, mythology, love, as well as others.

Ballabajoomba Poetry Open Mic and Slam is the only nationally certified poetry reading in South Texas, in the continuous existence since summer 2000. The series started to promote the literary and spoken word expression in the community of Corpus Christi.

It was on The Oprah Winfrey Show’s final season when American Idol sensation Jennifer Hudson sat one on one with Oprah and revealed to the world how many pounds she actually lost.

Neither Oprah nor the packed studio audience could believe Hudson when she uttered the number “80.”

The singer lost 80 lbs using a personal Weight Watchers Leader. “I didn’t expect to go as far as I did,” the soon to be 30-year-old singer told People StyleWatch. Hudson went from a size 16 to a size 6! But, she isn’t the only starlet in Hollywood that made a drastic weight change.
